The new school year has officially commenced (!!) Today, on February 1, Netflix MENA indeed dropped the official trailer for AlRawabi School For Girls Season 2, set to premiere exclusively on Netflix on February 15.
AlRawabi School for Girls Season 2: The plot and everything we know so far
Revolving around the central theme of social media—and its consequences, whether negative or positive—the second season of AlRawabi School For Girls addresses similar societal issues as those tackled in season 1. After all, at Al AlRawabi High School, every girl is after popularity – and social media is the primary way to attain it.
Tasneem, portrayed by Sarah Yousef, is the popular mean girl who revels in her social media fame and glory, whilst Sarah, played by Tara Abboud, feels as though she lives in obscurity. Sarah – like every other girl at AlRawabi High School, wants what Tasneem has; and one day, when she unexpectedly blows up on social media, she gets it.
After noticing Sarah’s rise to social media stardom, and the prospect of being dethroned, Tasneem and her bestie Hiba decide to invite Sarah to a sleepover. “This was the beginning of the end,” declares Sarah suspensefully in the official trailer.
Everything indeed seems to get worse for Sarah from that point onwards. From friendship betrayals and paralysing rumours, to bullying, boy drama, unexpected connections being made, and remorse, there’s no shortage of drama at AlRawabi High School. Every bubble is bound to burst, and everyone has something to lose.
At the very end of the trailer, Shams – played by Thalia Alansari – ominously declares that “they’re next,” implying that the popular mean girls will not get away with this.
