Newly-surfaced Wonkacore is set to become the internet’s new favorite aesthetic. Gen Z fashion trends have been at the helm of Barbiecore, Mermaidcore and Wednesdaycore for the better part of 2023. These movie-inspired fashion crazes have a huge influence, and are even expected to dominate this year’s Halloween costumes trends.
We don’t need to point out the influence a one, Timothée Chalamet, has on Gen Z internet discourse. His latest movie, ‘Wonka‘, set to be released this December, is already a hot topic that has brought with it a new fashion phenomenon. Experts believe that Wonkacore, otherwise referred to as Chocolatecore, will dominate fashion trends this winter.

It’s giving Wonkacore
Trend expert, Nick Drewe, at Wethrift suggests that Google searches for Wonka has increased by 2400% this past month. Google searches for ‘mauve coats’ have also seen a 4900% increase, hinting at the growing popularity of ‘Wonkacore.’
In the same way that Barbiecore commandeered pink this summer, we can expect Wonkacore to enforce an all-brown-based aesthetic.
The components of Wonkacore will be rooted in chocolate tones (it’s giving ‘chocolate factory’). We can also expect hints of mauve, caramel and neutral brown, providing a staple base to experiment.

Nick Drewe weighs in on the Wonkacore influence,
“The fashion scene isn’t shy of brown, with it being the ‘new black’ this season. In addition to designers going mad for it, tonal dressing is huge right now, so investing in brown shades will see you through autumn and into winter just in time for ‘Wonkacore’.
Brown-toned clothes aren’t the only way we can expect to see Wonkacore this season. The recently viral latte nails and latte makeup trends reinforced an interest in neutral aesthetics. We’ve also seen some influential celebs like Hailey Bieber incorporate a lot of chocolate tones in their wardrobes lately.
