TBH, there is no better way to spend your afternoon than looking through Nike‘s killer archive. In celebration of its 50th anniversary, the brand created a series of in-store activations for customers to check out and in enjoy, right here in the heart of Dubai.
Let’s give you a quick rundown on Nike’s extensive history starting with the founder of Nike, the icon himself, Bill Bowerman.
So, the reason Bill Bowerman did what he did (long story short, he poured rubber into a waffle maker) was that he, as an athlete, needed footwear that was comfortable and fed his sports needs, so he experimented, and that’s when he came out with Nike’s very first shoe back in 1972.
The second you step into the Nike flagship store located in The Dubai Mall, you’ll be greeted by a big red box in the middle named ‘Department of Nike Archives’ which revisits this iconic moment for the brand.

So what does the ‘Department of Nike Archives’ include?
The ‘Department of Nike Archives’ takes on a journey through its history, with every shoe they’ve created and the story leading up to it. It’s a 3D show that basically introduces customers to the brand, letting them learn more about Nike’s story.
The archive exhibition includes historical prominent moments within the brand’s history, whether it’s Joan Benoit Samuelson winning the first-ever women’s Olympic marathon wearing Nike shoes, or just their most iconic footwear pieces, like the Nike waffle.

Besides a trip to the past, customers can go back to the future by digitally designing their own shoes. So, to make the experience more personalised for visitors, the shoes customers will be working on are Nike’s most iconic running shoes to date, the Pegasus.
Another important thing about this Nike celebration is that it’s celebrating women. So, what better way to celebrate women than through other women? Nike has teamed up with Egyptian clothing designer, Engy Mahdy for its milestone anniversary.

As well as this, the brand is also holding free running, skateboarding, and yoga sessions across different flagship stores in Dubai, allowing visitors to bring out their inner sports stars.
