Fashion can be pretty baffling at times, especially when relatively everyday objects are given a price tag that will make your eyes hurt just to look at it. In which case, you might want to turn your head away from these totally over-the-top priced trainers.
Not only are the people of Twitter just completely aghast at how trainers purposefully made to look ‘distressed’ are worthy of a $600 price tag – that’s about Dhs2,200 – but there is outcry over so-called poverty ‘appropriation’, too.
The trainers come in different styles and cost from Dhs1,000 for this leather and suede pair…

…to approx Dhs2,250 for this leather and canvas pair.

They’re all made to look pretty worn-in and some styles even feature strategic duct tape, to make them look all holey and stuff.
The reaction on Twitter is a mixture of WTF?! This is outrageous! Is this a joke? And a bit more WTF?!
This is poverty appropriation. https://t.co/HvxpReUd06

I've got a pair of Adidas Sambas that are in that state. The sole has a hole in them with cycling. Yours for £499.

LRT, from @fergnerduson : The look of poverty shouldn't be seen or sold as fashion. WTF is wrong with some people?

Who's buying scuffed up chucks from Barney's for $600? Who? ANSWER ME

We’re not quite sure this particular trend is going to take off soon, mostly because we could all just buy trainers for Dhs200 and distress them ourselves, but we wish Golden Goose the best of luck all the same.
