When fashion transcends the runway and enters the realm of art, something magical happens. That’s exactly what unfolded at Kuwait’s Contemporary Art Platform on February 2nd, when Vietnamese Creative Director Cuong Dam launched CHATS by C.DAM with ESSENCE OF CONFLUENCE—a breathtaking showcase that reimagined the abaya as both garment and cultural conversation.
Co-hosted with Harvey Nichols Kuwait, this wasn’t your typical fashion event. Over 40 influential guests from across the GCC were treated to an intimate, two-part experience: a contemplative exhibition followed by an exclusive trunk show. The atmosphere was a sanctuary and perfectly aligned with the brand’s “Feminine Intellectual” philosophy.

The star-studded guest list included Mariam Mohammad (@mrmr_4), whose presence reinforced the collection’s ethos: celebrating the modern Arab woman who’s independent, intellectually grounded, and utterly self-possessed. Because let’s be honest, today’s woman doesn’t need to shout to be heard.
What sets CHATS by C.DAM apart is Dam’s approach to the abaya as a living canvas for innovation. There were fluid sculptural silhouettes, signature draping techniques, and restrained metallic accents that whisper rather than scream. The exhibition transformed abayas into spatial installations, where fabric, form, and light moved in mesmerising dialogue, evoking the Gulf’s spiritual depth.

The trunk show brought this vision into wearable reality. Ceremonial elegance met global fashion codes through pared-back cuts and strategic metallic detailing at shoulders, waist, and hips. Launching during Ramadan added another layer of significance, positioning the collection as a bridge between cultural reverence and forward-thinking design. It’s fashion as dialogue, art as identity, and the abaya as both heritage and possibility.
