There’s more happening with regards to women’s rights in 2018 than has been done in decades. And we couldn’t be happier to be a part of a fabulous new tide of welcome change.
The Royal Oman Police released a statement today announcing that women can drive taxis and heavy vehicles from March 1 onward, opening up a whole host of opportunities for women to earn money and be independent. Twenty-seven-year-old Rahma Al Khalidi, who hasn’t been able to find a job for 10 years after dropping out of school, told The National, “This is good news. I will be the first one to apply for the taxi license. Women also need a chance to earn a living from driving taxis”. Companies like Careem and Uber who regularly provide cab services have also said they’re now open to providing employment opportunities for female drivers.
With the #TimesUp movement gaining momentum and now this bit of amazing news, 2018 is really the year when women all over the world are finding their voice and reaching their incredible potential. Something tells us this is only the beginning.
