This week, Dubai resident, Anthony Permal, has been campaigning for a special screening of Wonder Woman for stage 4 breast cancer survivors. And his hard work totally paid off…

It all started with a Tweet, appealing to UAE cinema chains to make like a New York theatre, with a special screening:
Hey @NovoCinemas @voxcinemas @ReelCinemas this would be a great idea for UAE, no? https://t.co/0kdf9I8ql0

But only one got back to him.
“I come from a family of stage 4 survivors. Mother and sister and grandaunt,” Anthony told us. “When I saw that Wonder Woman is being released here with a premiere, I approached the two major chains (Vox and Novo) with an idea of conducting special screenings for [breast cancer] survivors.”
“I felt it would be a) great support to include them in something special and b) have them see a female superhero who hasn’t been on screen for 75 years and would help them feel powerful,” the digital marketer added.
“Neither did it… but Novo did get back to me and said they’d help if I wanted to do something on my own,” he went on to add. “Based on this I requested extra passes, identified 5 stage 4 survivors, and invited them to the premiere”.

And the end result? Four survivors went to the special screening on Tuesday night. “Novo pulled out all the stops. VIP passes, special queue, first choice of seats. Good on them,” Anthony added.
