Sound the 'mind-blown' alarm because this here is mind-blowing stuff.
Yes, maybe I am being a tad dramatic, but bugger it, I'm in a dramatic mood. Plus, myself and Cosmo social media whizz kid Lauren were literally flabbergasted when we found this out. So we were hoping you'd be interested in this little movie factoid too.
Anyway, enough stalling… so, you know the film The Little Princess - the 1995 corker of a film about Sara Crewe.
Here's a reminder of the story for those of you that need one…
When Sara's widowed father Captain Crewe goes off to fight in the Boer War, young Sara Crewe is sent to a boarding school where Amanda Minchin is the head mistress. Sara has a great and privileged time there until her father is listed as missing in action and assumed dead. Mrs. Minchin agrees to keep her on at the school, but in the absence of her tuition payments, she has to work for her keep. She is soon cleaning out the fireplace and scrubbing floors. Because of this she's dubbed The Little Princess by her former schoolmates. Despite having a shitty time of it, she refuses to accept that her father is dead and hunts the hospitals in the hope of locating him.
Well, did you know that Sara's dad aka Captain Crewe is actually played by someone you probably know very, VERY well now.
Lovely Captain Crewe is played by none other than Liam Cunningham – the man who plays Davos Seaworth in Game Of Thrones.
Davos. Seaworth. Actual Davos Seaworth.
How can a beard and fur battle cloak change a man so damn much? It has been 20 years, but still…
