Rainy days can be really depressing; the weather sucks, your naps are interrupted by rumbling thunder and everywhere is just wet. Some people have the power to work through it, but some of us just want to curl up in bed and wish the day away. However, we've put together the perfect list of at-home activities to brighten your mood on a gloomy day. So, grab your robe and fuzzy socks and get going!
1. Make it a self-care day
Get out of bed and use this opportunity to pamper yourself. Start by running a warm bubble bath and slather on a face mask, then treat yourself to a DIY mani-pedi. We can all use a self-care day, so take your mind off the weather and just focus on yourself.
2. Have an indoor date with yourself (or bae)
If you’re always out of the house and never get the time to cook your favourite dish, here is the opportunity to do just that. You have all day, so cook to your heart's content, but if you’re like me and cooking isn’t your thing, bake your favourite dessert and order some food instead. Fact: nothing boosts your mood like a delicious meal.
3. Host a game day
It doesn’t always have to be games night - bring out your board games during the day and call your girlfriends to join. We love Monopoly, Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit. Expect a little drama though, board games are extremely competitive (especially with Team Cosmo).
4. Organise your own film festival
Whether it is a movie that you want to watch or to catch up on your TV shows, there’s something soothing about a movie marathon. Go through your archives and have a mini film festival - all you need is some popcorn and a blanket.
5. Curl up with a book
Too often we buy a book and never get the chance to read it. Build a fort, put on a warm pair of socks and get lost in another world.
