So summer in London, apart from strawberries and cream and 2 days of sunshine (that’s right), is also home to one of the world’s best loved festivals of classical music: The BBC Proms held at London’s Hyde Park and Royal Albert Hall.
But now, in only their second Proms event ever to be held outside the UK (first one being in Oz land last year), you can catch this London fundamental at Dubai Opera over 4 days from March 21-24.
While in the UK the Proms is an eight-week long festival, and Dubai is just a taster, we are happy to say that some traditions just can’t be ignored. The Last Night of the Proms will still take place to round things off.
And hold up! If you think you needed to know Tchaikovsky to attend the Proms, think again! This is classical music with a twist!
The Proms open with works by living composers Gary Carpenter and Mohammed Fairouz. Late Night Prom has Middle Eastern-Jazz fusion oud artist Joseph Tawadros for a show filled with skilled lyricism and modern Arabian music. It’s not just Mozart and Beethoven. There’s a lot for everyone.
A season pass for all shows is just at Dhs300. And keeping with tradition of making Promming affordable, standing tickets are available from Dhs50.
Fancy yet affordable, classical yet not, and a night of fabulous music. What are you waiting for? Get your tickets now!
