- JK Rowling just sent a cryptic tweet, and fans are convinced a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child film is on the way.
- The author tweeted "Sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places."
Harry Potter fans, try not to freak out too much; JK Rowling might have just hinted that a Cursed Child movie is on the way.
In true cryptic style, the author shared a new image of the death eater skull and Slytherin House snake. She wrote alongside it: "Sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places #HarryPotter #CursedChild."
It's the first time Rowling has tweet in six months and, not surprisingly, fans are currently having a meltdown at the suggestion that we could be seeing more Cursed Child.
@jk_rowling Welcome back to Twitter!
Does this mean that there is going to be a #CursedChild movie trilogy with the original cast/trio reprising their roles? Please, can you share anything about #FantasticBeasts3?— Kevin Cobble (@KevinCobble) September 5, 2019
For those who don't closely follow the Potter franchise, Cursed Child is the hit play which premiered on the West End over three years ago. Set 19 years after the end of the final Harry Potter film, it sees follows Harry, Ron and Hermione's children, and recently opened on Broadway.
If you've ever been through the pain of trying to get tickets, you'll know how in-demand they are... and if you've been lucky enough to see it, you'll also know how incredible the production is.
The last Harry Potter, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, was released in 2011. Not that that's meant the end of the wizarding world; we've also had the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them films, with the third instalment set for release in November 2020.
Fingers crossed there's plenty more to come.
