Nicki Minaj has defintely been in the news lately after she announced her ‘retirement’ plans. She might be giving up music but she's still open to other collabs… with fashion designers.
In a series of Instagram posts, Nicki announced her team up with Fendi to create a capsule collection called “Fendi Prints On.” In an interview with WWD, Fendi’s CEO Serge Brunschwig explained “…For a long time we’ve wanted to do something together (with Nicki). She is a great artist and one of the best rappers. Fendi shares great affinity with her. She represents… the fun aspect of the brand and she will present it extremely well.”
Minaj is a big supporter of the brand. She frequently attends fashion shows and events and paid homage to Fendi in her song “Chun-Li.” The collection is ironic, playful and flamboyant which definitely features some aspects of Nicki’s personality. WWD describes the features of the collection “the FF logo all-over pattern combined with metallic, shimmering surfaces and rich textures. There are oversize reversible puffers and coats or a nylon organza windbreaker but also super-tight silhouettes with a plethora of details”. Men’s and kid’s categories will also be included in this collab.
When the CEO was asked about Nicki’s recent announcement, he said “nothing will change (referencing the collaboration). She’s free to do what she wants.” Steven Klein is the photographer capturing all the images of this collaboration. He’s done an amazing job because all the photos look SO GOOD!!!
Fendi Prints On will be launched online on October 14 and in 52 Fendi stores on October 16. I need to start getting my coin together!!!
