On Friday, Forbes released a list of the world’s top ten highest paid actresses in 2019. If you're feeling the end-of-the-month pinch before payday, I advise you to not read on. It will depress you.

If you're still here, let’s go through the list together.

1. Scarlett Johansson: $56 million

For the second year in a row, Scarlett has made this list. I’m not really surprised, MCU movies are all the rage right now.

Scarlett reportedly received an eight-figure check for her upcoming Black Widow film and an impressive back-end payment of about $35 million for the $2.8 billion-grossing Avengers: Endgame.

Not only does Black Widow have superior tactical skills, weapons training, psychological manipulation and various martial arts training, she is a world-class athlete capable of a front aerial flip straight into a prime negotiating position.

2. Sofia Vergara: $44.1 million

The star of Modern Family, Sofia has been earning her cheque all through the shows’ 11 seasons. What a hero.

3. Reese Witherspoon: $35 million

Reese has been making waves starring on the Emmy Award-winning show Big Little Lies on HBO. Reese has a lead role on the show and also received executive producer credits. HBO is also a major network that has consistently put out huge series such as Game of Thrones, Chernobyl, Euphoria and Veep. Landing a show on that network will definitely bring in big bucks. Reese also has such a genuine personality, I’m sure she charmed her way into a sweetheart deal.

4.  Nicole Kidman: $34 million

Oscar-winner, Nicole Kidman has recently gotten into TV series and also has a lead role on Big Little Lies. Her performance on that show won her an Emmy and a Golden Globe award. Nicole already had a pretty impressive filmography under her belt, I’m kinda shocked she’s not earning more.

5. Jennifer Aniston: $28 million

Most recognised for her role on Friends, Jennifer has embraced her comedy roots by starring in comedy movies like Horrible Bosses, Just Go With It, We’re The Millers and most recently Murder Mystery on Netflix. She also signed on to do two more projects on Netflix and will return to television starring alongside Reese Witherspoon in the Apple TV+ drama The Morning Show. She is definitely securing BAGS from multiple sources. Keeping up?

6. Kaley Cuoco: $25 million

Like Sofia Vergara, Kaley made the bulk of her money by starring on a successful TV show. The Big Bang Theory ended earlier this year after running for 12 season (279 episodes). I guess she really is a comedian at heart. She was probably laughing all the way to the bank.

7. Elisabeth Moss: $24 million

The star of the show The Handmaid's Tale streaming on Hulu has received positive reviews worldwide. Furthermore, Moss also won a Golden Globe for Best Actress for her performance on the show. Elizabeth is also known for her role as Peggy Olsen on AMC’S Mad Men. Mad Men was a hit show and ran for 7 seasons (92 episodes) and helped launch Elisabeth’s career.

8.  Margot Robbie:$23.5 million

Margot first received international recognition from her performance in the 2015 movie The Wolf Of Wall Street alongside Leonardo Dicaprio and Jonah Hill. She also starred alongside Will Smith in the film Focus. In 2016, she scored a huge role in DC movie, Suicide Squad, playing Harley Quinn. Recently, she starred alongside Leonardo Dicaprio and Brad Pitt in a Quentin Tarantino comedy-drama Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. She has worked with many big directors and actors in the industry, it’s no surprise she’s on this list.

9. Charlize Theron: $23 million

Action Heroine Charlize Theron has starred in a broad genre of movies. You might know her from movies like Snow White and the Huntsman, Mad Max: Fury Road, Atomic Blonde and The Fate of the Furious (which grossed over a billion dollars worldwide). Her acting range enables her to command hefty salary.

10. Ellen Pompeo: $22 million

Ellen Pompeo has been the lead actress on Grey’s Anatomy for the past 15 seasons (342 episodes). The show has been renewed for another two seasons, so Ellen doesn’t need to worry about her next job. Since 2012, she has made the Forbes list of TV’s highest-paid actresses. Although she’s only pretending to be a doctor, Ellen can handle million dollar deals with surgical precision.

The actresses on this list earned a combined total of $314.6 million between June 1, 2018, and June 1, 2019. That's very impressive, but still significantly less than the top ten actors' cumulative total $588.3 million.

While I’m proud of all these women earning millions of dollars, I’m honestly slightly shook by the clear gender pay gap. We must do better at equality, people, it's 2019!
