If you’re still gawking at those Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello PDA pics from Tampa, good! By all means, continue to live your best life. But you should still know about some less-than-fun news that came out of that concert stop, and it’s left Shawn in hot water with some of his fans.
The singer came under fire this weekend on Twitter after a video made the rounds of him dodging a question about “Señorita,” his steamy duet with Camila, and dashing off the stage. The clip was filmed during a Q and A before his Tampa show, where a fan asked him what inspired him to write the song. And Shawn’s reaction was admittedly pretty odd.
Instead of addressing the question, he said, “I love you guys, have a great time,” got up, and walked off the stage. His fans were understandably surprised, and some thought it was straight-up rude.
“Just imagine spending a lot of money to ask him a question, waiting till your turn and that he just ignores you,” user @SalmaSoea said.
“People spend their hard-earned money to attend his Q&As, and he doesn’t even answer questions about his damn job?! This is pure madness. The purpose of the Q&A is to give the opportunity to the fans to ask him about his music, and now he refuses to answer. I am disappointed. Sry,” added @mfcesa2002.
When Shawn saw what was going on, he spoke out about what was really happening in a since-deleted tweet, saying they merely ran out of time and he was just trying to keep it lighthearted.
“Hey! There was no bad intention here. If you were there, you would have known it was the last question & that’s why I decided to turn it into a lighthearted funny goodbye! Sorry if that upset anyone, I adore you guys! No need for any negativity,” he clarified, adding, “I love you guys!!!”

Some fans still aren’t happy with his response, but it sounds like this might’ve come down to a timing issue, so let’s go easy on him, yeah?
