The young star, who starred in cult-favourite Disney movies and tv shows such as Descendants and Jessie, tragically died of a seizure in his sleep on Saturday (July 6). Cameron Boyce was aged only 20 when he passed away and beloved by many, including his co-stars and friends Dove Cameron (who starred on Descendants with him), Peyton List, and Skai Jackson (fellow Jessie co-stars), to name a few.
“It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron,” said a spokesperson for the family. “He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure, which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated.
“The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him. We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother.”
Several celebs and fellow co-stars who knew him personally also took to social media (although many preferred to grieve privately, including Jessie stars Debby Ryan and Karan Brar), to pay their respects when the tragic news broke.

Too young. Too sweet. Too funny. Just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around. Loved that kid. Cared so much about his family. Cared so much about the world. Thank you, Cameron, for all you gave to us. So much more was on the way. All our hearts are broken. Thinking of your amazing family and sending our deepest condolences.

I had the privilege to play Cameron’s mother in #grownups 1 and 2 and we stayed in touch through the years He was spirited, talented, kind, generous, funny and a shining light. His joy will live in our hearts forever as he goes on dancing and shining elsewhere. My heart goes to his lovely family. @thecameronboyce
and his Descendants pal shared her sorrow over the news as well
His Disney friends and other stars also offered their sympathies
This is awful. I'm heartbroken for his family, friends, and everyone who was impacted by him. He was so young. I hope everyone gets the space they need right now. https://t.co/mh1aeVJPmW— Kevin McHale (@druidDUDE) July 7, 2019

Heartbroken. Lost for words. I had known Cameron Boyce for many years. He was always polite. Always respectful and always a class act. In fact I was going to message him a couple weeks ago to tell him that I wanted to be in each other’s lives more.— Gregg Sulkin (@greggsulkin) July 7, 2019
The news of Cameron Boyce's death came ahead of the release of Disney's Descendants 3, in which Cameron stars as Carlos, slated to be released August 2, 2019. Many fans have speculated on IG that the film will pay tribute to the Disney star, so that his memory would live on in those who knew and loved him.
