Roshni Moolchandani, a 22-year-old Instagram model with over 53,000 followers, died Thursday in a bus crash that killed 17 and injured 9 people. Roshni was working at a hotel in Dubai while also pursuing modelling at the time, and was an up-and-coming social media influencer.
One of her last Instagram stories before her death showed Roshni prepared to return to Dubai after Eid break.
Roshni was travelling to Oman for the Eid break and was returning from Muscat when the bus crashed into a maximum-height sign post exiting Sheikh Zayed Road. Over half the passengers onboard died.
Her cousin's husband, Vikram Thakur, whom she travelled to Oman with, also died in the crash.
Her family flew from Dubai to Jaipur in order to have her cremated.
“It is a tragedy for the family to lose two young people,” said Girish Pant, a social worker assisting the family. “Friends said they[Vikram and Roshni] moved to the left side of the bus and it was that side that was smashed. A friend sitting on the right survived. The parents could not stop crying because the worst possible thing is to cremate your child.”
