Personally I would rather have an extra 30 minutes lay in bed than apply a full face. But after delaying it till the very last minute, I start my makeup routine, which is basically doing the bare minimum and enough to look my respective colleagues in the eye. As I sit in the back of a taxi, next to my housemate, who actually works on the next desk next to me (hi babe), I start applying my eyes and she merely sits in silence and watches in awe of my makeup application skills – which is quite an art form and a steady hand needed.
This step is also applied in the car, to which Kate says "oh, here the wonder stick again". Said "wonder stick" is called Magic Away by Charlotte Tilbury. It covers eye bags, blemishes and the red, uneven complexion which I'm currently blessed with.
To make my eyes look wide awake, I apply my ‘Boombastic’ mascara. As the name suggests, it transforms your half shut eyes into a fresh full flutter. (I usually have one eye done by the time I get to work). I've tried many mascaras in my career but this one by GOSH is my absolute favourite – it hardly ever smudges and it lasts for hours. For my brows, I use the double ended Nudestix brow styler. I love the colour and it includes a setting gel, making it easier to get results on the go.
Depending on the situation and if I have a meeting first thing, I do a lip application from the nougat crisp lip liner by GOSH, which I double up as lipstick. That baby has major staying power and its many fresh shades will have you looking wide awake in no time.
Throughout the day I will reach for my Apa Lush lip balm, it's great for those with dry lips and it's instant lip cooling sensation makes you feel like it is working its magic and, trust me it is. This, along with Elizabeth Arden’s 8 hour cream makes for the perfect remedy for any chap or dry lip situ that might be having.
I'm an avid fan of a fresh, not overpowering scent for the day time, and if you have not heard of the The Harmonist (guiding water) try out their personalised elixirs, which use of all natural ingredients. It is subtle and strong enough to last all day.
Tip: Visit Harvey Nichols Dubai and they will personalise your fragrance to match your personal energy.
For those after hour antics, I apply a pea sized amount of Magic eye rescue cream to wake up my "computer eyes".
I add some glow by sweeping on some highlighter (Charlotte Tilbury's Filmstar & Glow, to be precise), the palette has both a dark and light shade to highlight those important parts. Then, I reach for my Mad About Matte liquid lipstick, by Essence. It will see you through more than six hours of dancing and dining, without the need for touch-ups. It's a great buy as it doesn't dry out, flake or transfer.
After a long day, I remove my makeup using the wonder water that is the Bioderma Micellar water. Once that's done, and my cleanse and tone situ has taken place, I pat on some Sukin hydrating elixir onto my face and neck, then I apply my moisturiser over the top, that way it can work its magic overnight.
There you have it ladies, do give it a try and let me know how you get on.
