Before he was enamoured with now-wife Meghan Markle, Prince Harry has a long-running and heavily publicised relationship with lawyer Chelsy Davy, and it turns out their 2011 split had a lot to do with Harry's brother, Prince William, and his wife, Kate Middleton.
After dating on and off for seven years, Chelsy and Harry attended William and Kate's 2011 wedding together as friends, but the sheer scale of the event scared Chelsy off ever getting back together with the redhead prince.
In her royal biography, Harry: Conversations with the Prince, journalist Angela Levin claimed Chelsy was spooked by all that pomp and circumstance (and probably that very public balcony pash).
"A friend revealed that seeing the enormity and pomp of the day convinced Chelsy that she and Harry had been right to separate," Angela wrote, according to The Mirror UK.
"Although they had a lot in common, she saw clearly that because they came from such different worlds it could never have worked, especially as she valued her privacy and guarded it so carefully."
Chelsy has previously spoken about how hectic it was to date Harry, telling The Times in 2016: "It was so full-on. Crazy and scary and uncomfortable," she said. "I found it very difficult when I was bad. I couldn't cope. I was young, I was trying to be a normal kid and it was horrible."
Thankfully, there are no hard feelings between Chelsy and Harry, and she even attended his May 2018 wedding to Meghan Markle and they reportedly shared an emotional "moving on" phone call before the ceremony.
