While Dior's Cruise 2019 fashion show has been met with critical acclaim, not everyone was a fan. Paris Jackson was spotted leaving the show early "in a rage," over what many presume to be over the use of horses in the show. As in live horses, not, like, horse hair-woven cardigans or cordovan boots.
Before the show, the 20-year-old told WWD, "I love horses very much. I’m ecstatic," while posing for photographs. The outlet then goes on to note that the spectacle, "all proved too much for Jackson, who huffed out barefoot, having earlier asked two assistants to help her out of her high-heeled sandals."
Per WWD, the show featured female Mexican rodeo riders alongside the models, as a nod to Dior creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri's "love for strong women" and the "fearlessness of the sport." WWD's review described the performance as "the finest of Latin American and European equestrian tradition."
A source later told E! News that Paris is "very sensitive when it comes to animals." Another told People that "[Paris] was uncomfortable with how the horses were being handled... the ladies performing with the horses were riding side-saddle so they had to use a crop to get the horses to go straight, and it was pouring rain with no tent.” (That said, People's source says Paris left "quietly," and still loves Dior.)
While Paris herself hasn't commented directly on the reports, she did confirm that she left the show mid-way with an Instagram post captioned, "left early n did this."
It's also worth noting that it started heavily raining during the show, so maybe Paris just wanted to stay dry? Or run in the rain barefoot?? My favourite thing is to leave early and do other things too (or just leave early and go home, tbh), so I get it.
