The British Royal family has made headlines a lot recently, thanks to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's soon-to-be wedding. But now, the Royal Household just gave the public something else to buzz about — a job opening to cook for the Queen!
Queen Elizabeth is looking for a new Demi Chef de Partie (a.k.a. assistant chef) to cook for her and her guests at her home — you know, Buckingham Palace.
The new hire must be ready to work full time, Monday to Sunday for everything from state dinners to staff lunches to receptions. They'll also have the option to live at the big palace with some salary adjustments, but it's safe to assume you and the Queen will not have the same accommodations.
“It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all here tonight. As Head of the Commonwealth, I am delighted to be able to host this occasion in the United Kingdom, for the first time in many years. This Dinner is always an opportunity for us to come together, as friends, and I am grateful that so many of you are here with us this time.” - The Queen. "This is no ordinary Demi Chef de Partie role," the job description reads. "In our state-of-the-art kitchens, you'll prepare classical and contemporary menus for a wide range of events, learning essential skills that will provide stepping stones for a great career.”
Despite the prestigious title and the chance to live near the royals, the Demi Chef de Partie starting salary is £21,151 a year (approx Dhs105,000), so, no, you won't find yourself coming into any serious cash or royalty.
On the upside, the salary comes with a couple of perks which include 33 days of holiday (hooray!), a 15-percent employer contribution pension scheme, free meals, training, and access to recreational facilities.
You have until May 24, 2018 to apply for the gig, so get your resume royal-ready and submit it online here.
