Hitmaker The Weeknd, real name Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, is showing his support to Gaza with a charitable act.
The Idol actor has pledged to donate $2 million to help feed families in Gaza, according to the United Nationsโs World Food Programme.ย
The donation comes from the starโs XO Humanitarian Fund and will help feed over 157,000 Palestinians for a month.
โThis support will provide over 1,500 metric tons of fortified wheat flour, which can make over 18 million loaves of bread that can help feed more than 157,000 Palestinians for one month,โ said the WFP.

It’s not the first time the Canadian musician has donated as he previously gave $2.5 million to WFP from the fund.
The generous donation led to 4 million emergency meals, funding 820 tons of food parcels that could feed more than 173,000 Palestinians for two weeks.ย
In total, the Starboy singer has directed $4.5 million toward operations in Gaza and has sent $2 million to support WFPโs emergency food assistance for women and children in Ethiopia.ย
It comes after Palestinian rapper Saint Levant gave a powerful performanceย at this yearโs Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California.
During his set, he seized the opportunity to shed light on the ongoing conflict in Gaza, from his band, to featuring other MENA artists, to having traditional Palestinian dancers and artists on stage with him.
Whilst on stage, he said: โCoachella, my name is Saint Levant and I was born in Jerusalem and raised in Gaza,โ the artist greeted the crowd to cheers. โAs I hope all of you are aware, the people of Gaza have been undergoing a brutal, brutal genocide for the past six months. And the people of Palestine have been undergoing a brutal occupation for the past 75 years.โ
