Taking Taylor Swift‘s side in a humorous TikTok is her ex-boyfriend Taylor Lautner who she dated for a few months in 2009.

The Twilight actor took to the video-sharing platform to post a light-hearted video where he is seen kneeling and praying with the Speak Now track Dear John playing in the background. LOL. He captioned the TikTok #prayforjohn referring to John Mayer, one of Taylor Swift‘s exes who is believed to be the subject of the song.

Taylor Lautner has also been rumoured to have a Speak Now song based on him — Back to December. Speaking to TODAY.com earlier this week, the actor shared, “I think it’s a great album. Yeah, I feel safe.” He is referring to Taylor Swift‘s former romance with John Mayer and could be joking about the Swiftie backlash Jake Gyllenhaal received when she re-released a longer version of All Too Well in late 2021. ☕

What is Taylor Swift’s song Dear John about?

Originally released in 2010, Dear John delves into 19-year-old Taylor Swift‘s brief relationship with musician John Mayer who was 32 when they dated.

The pop icon has famously written about her exes in the past, one of her most popular tracks being the heart-wrenching All Too Well in which she allegedly details her tumultuous relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal. Similarly, Dear John is an ode to her relationship with her former lover where she wistfully reflects on the time she was with John and questions him for messing with her younger self. 💔

As expected, John didn’t love Taylor’s song about him. He revealed that he was “really humiliated” by Dear John when he spoke to Rolling Stone in 2012. 😏 “Because I didn’t deserve it. I’m pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do,” he said.

Nevertheless, Taylor is on a path to reclaim her life’s work after losing it to her former label Big Machine Records owned by Scooter Braun, which is why she is re-recording and releasing her older albums. We stan an independent queen.

Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) will release on July 7, 2023.
