A huge move for KSA, the country is putting forward a contestant for the international beauty pageant that is run by a United States and Thailand-based Miss Universe Organisation.
According to the Miss Universe website, the winner has a big role to fill and must be confident, articulate, authentic and credible. Sounds like a tall order.

Rumy Alqahtani from Riyadh is the woman who will represent the Middle Eastern country in the 2024 pageant.
Announcing that she’s taking part in the completion, she penned on IG: “I am honoured to participate in the Miss Universe 2024 competition. This is the debut of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the competition.”

Speaking to Arab News last year, the model admitted their are challenges to being Saudi and competing in beauty pageants, she said: “The biggest challenge is my personal representation of the (typical) Saudi girl and her appearance, (as well as the appearance) that befits her as a Saudi.”
On her mission, she added: “My contributions are to learn about world cultures and to transfer our authentic Saudi culture and heritage to the world.”
