In a poignant Instagram post, Alaqad expressed her hope that by the time her book was published, Gaza would be safe and its story recognised.

Plestia Alaqad is a recent journalism graduate, and gained global attention for her heroic work reporting on the conflict through social media videos before leaving Gaza with her family for Australia.

Now in Lebanon, she is pursuing a Master’s in Media Studies at the American University of Beirut, supported by the Shireen Abu Akleh Memorial Scholarship.

Her first book, “The Eyes of Gaza”, is set to be released in April 2025, and is available to pre-order now via this link.
