Kim Kardashian is receiving backlash once again.
The Kardashians are like the royal family of the celebrity world, they are the most talked-about celebrities and have been on every tabloid ever since their hit reality TV show Keeping up with the Kardashians aired back in 2007. Led by momager Kris Jenner, every woman in the Kardashian-Jenner family has become a successful businesswoman and wealthy millionaire.
So, it came as no surprise that the Kardashians would be featured in an interview in honour of International Women’s Day.
So, why is Kim Kardashian receiving backlash for her latest interview?
This interview for Variety was an effort to feature the Kardashians’ success and showcase their new upcoming reality TV show on HULU. But it all went south when Kim K provided her input on the best advice she would give to women in business. The reality TV star and business mogul said, “Get your ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days.”
All the ladies seemed to agree and Kourtney even expressed it verbally, but when Variety made a post of the interview on their Twitter page with Kim’s quote as the header, the majority of the public did not seem to agree but rather reacted in a negative manner to Kim’s statement. Here is what some Twitter users had to say.
Kim Kardashian profited off of the stupidity and vanity of american women
Saying she “worked” for what she has is an insult to actual workers like doctors or cab drivers
“Hustle” would be a more appropriate term for what she does

Hey Kim Kardashian, every single person getting their selves up every day and working hard at a minimum wage job would like a word…

Rich people telling poor people to work 🙄. How about pay your employees a livable wage. Enough that they can get gas. What are you finding it hard to find people to work in your sweatshop for .22 cents/hr? Girl bye. pic.twitter.com/NJfk99kL9k

The AUDACITY of being born into such a life of PRIVILEGE and trying to imply others are lazy for not succeeding. Normal people work their asses off just to SURVIVE.
Disgusting.— Jamie Eldon (@jamie_eldon) March 9, 2022
If you’re going to have rich people speak on average peoples lives make sure they understand that most people are living paycheck to paycheck because companies like THEIR OWN do not pay enough for the cost of living these days. pic.twitter.com/kRcjRfAq7U

The public seemed to think the statement was insensitive and said out of privilege due to a lack of awareness. Many users reacted through tweets by stating that they do not doubt that Kim works, but she has lived in wealth and fame her entire life which makes it easier. Others deemed her statement as inappropriate taking into consideration that we are in a global pandemic where millions of women have lost their jobs and remain unemployed to this day because they have to take care of their kids.
