With everything going on in the world and morale so low, Kate Middleton and Prince William took it upon themselves to personally call the NHS to give their condolences and say thank you.
Unable to physically go down to the hospitals to visit both staff and patients, as they usually do, they were still adamant on connecting with their people.
Queen’s Hospital Burton, Staffordshire recently lost a member of staff, Mr. Amged El-Hawrani, an ENT consultant, to coronavirus. Colleagues of the late Amged have said that his death hit them quite hard and they are grateful to the Duke and Duchess for taking the time to reach out to them.
The palace tweeted a short yet sweet clip of the call where you can hear Prince William say how “proud” he and the entire country is of all the staff’s valiant efforts.

Chief Executive at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton, Gavin Boyle, lead the call. He later stated that it was a real moral boost for staff after “a tough month for the NHS”.
“It has been a tough month for the NHS, especially at our hospitals, so to receive a call from The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge was really appreciated,” he said afterwards. “The Duke and Duchess heard about the challenges our staff were facing professionally, and also the impact on their home lives. We are all very grateful for their support and for taking the time to speak to colleagues on the front line. This was a real boost for morale.”
We can only imagine how tough the situation must be for both the staff and their families.
