It’s no fuss that the whole shenanigan with Ebraheem Al Samadi trademarking Zeina Khoury’s “I Am The Company” name served some major drama between the two cast members.
Fans of Dubai Bling will remember just how arduous Zeina’s journey has been since season 1 (that office scene is still rent-free in our heads). And in season 3, we saw the journey with Ebraheem kept swaying back and forth— she couldn’t catch a break.
While it seemed like it was a harmless prank to Ebraheem, Zeina, who recently appeared in The Kris Fade Show with ex-Dubai Bling member Kris Fade, revealed she went through so many emotions right at that scene.
“It looked like I was going through a brain error, especially since I trademarked the name globally,” Zeina revealed.
She stated that while the process of trademarking usually takes months, she told Kris that she had already begun legally trademarking I Am The Company, but revealed for clarity: “I already started the registrations worldwide. The only country I missed was the UK. And it’s like, only 90 Pound sterling…” (Major regret energy).
Kris himself actually mentioned that he knew what was going to happen between the two cast members. “I was actually in South Africa with Ebraheem, and we were talking about the show [obviously didn’t release then], and he mentioned what he had done, and I was like, why?”
Zeina further revealed that as the scene unfolded, she was unsure how to react. “If you watch the scene properly, you can see I have a red flush blaring through my chest,” she said. “In that moment of time, I asked myself, ‘Do I blow up? or do I try to deal with this like a mature person?”
Even as a pair of dysfunctional friends, fans know that Ebraheem gave the trademark license papers to Zeina as the series progressed, even if we didn’t get to see it. But taking the information out, she revealed there was a moment edited out from the series between her and Ebraheem.
“Ebraheem did actually give me the trademark papers, I have it with me,” she first clarified.
Mentioning the edited scene, she said, “He actually came and signed it up and even did a whole signing ceremony, but it didn’t make the cut when the show released.”
Despite everything that happened, she revealed her friendship status with Ebraheem (both on good terms), even praising him for his amazing zest in season 3. “I’ve grown to understand Ebraheem. He was spectacular in the show; he knows how to spice things up,” she quipped.
