Kelly Mi Li from Bling Empire is reportedly suing the show’s production company over claims she came up with the reality TV show idea and hasn’t been credited.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, 36-year-old Kelly Mi Li has filed a complaint against Jeff Jenkins, who has worked on shows like Keeping Up With The Kardashians, claiming she came up with Bling Empire with him back in 2018.

The Netflix show follows the luxury lifestyles of a wealthy Asian and Asian American community in LA. The second series dropped on the streaming service last Friday (13 May) and has already shot straight into the Top 10 most-streamed, thanks to the never-ending drama.

Kelly’s suit alleges she and Jeff Jenkins worked together for months, “leading to the successful sale of” Bling Empire, and that she should be paid and named an executive producer on the show.

Currently, Kelly is named as a producer at the end of some episodes, but claims in the suit that she is entitled to an episodic fee of 25 percent, 100 percent of Jenkin’s executive producer fee for each episode she produced with him, and a five percent annual increase.

It also states that the pair entered into a one-year agreement together in 2018, with a condition that the agreement would be extended if Jenkins found a buyer for the show. They claim he was in talks with Netflix before the agreement expired, and has “failed and refused to perform” to the agreement.

It’s not known if the pair have reached an agreement.

We have reached out to representatives for Netflix and Kelly for comment.
