After nine months of waiting, Kate Middleton has given birth to her third child. The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to a baby boy at 11.01am at the Lindo Wing, St Mary’s Hospital in the United Kingdom. He was born weighing 8lb, 7oz.
But the arrival of the new baby won’t just be exciting news for Prince William and Kate Middleton themselves; no doubt four-year-old Prince George and two-year-old Princess Charlotte are beyond chuffed to become older siblings to their new baby brother, too.
The news was announced by Kensington Palace on Twitter:
Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs.
The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz.
The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.
Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.

The Palace quickly followed up with another tweet, which said how “delighted” the rest of the royal family is with the news.
The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news.

If the Duke and Duchess are to follow tradition, it won’t be long before we catch a glimpse of their new bundle of joy. After giving birth to Charlotte in May 2015, William and Kate appeared with her at the entrance of the Lindo Wing less than 12 hours later.
It might be a little bit more of a wait to find out the details we’re all after, though, like what the baby will be called. It took two days following the birth of Princess Charlotte for her name to be announced, and it was a similar amount of time with George.
Congratulations, William and Kate. Your new baby boy will be the perfect addition at Harry and Meghan’s wedding next month.
