I am the Black Sheep of my Family. Maybe not precisely the definitive meaning of the word but most definitely the outcast, weirdo, the girl who’s always been “just too much”. Today is World Mental Health Day and I would like to share my thoughts with you using these photos from today’s short race as I got these thoughts during the last leg. I started with a heavy heart (thoughts & anxiety) and finished with a clearer vision. I’m the loudest, most active , most hyperactive- it’s been like that for a while actually. I believe every Family has a black sheep but only recently have I made peace with that – see you have to otherwise you will continue to suffer. I’m the one who did not go down the conventional path. Didn’t get married. No kids and I sometimes get called out at family gatherings ,”what’s wrong with you?!” The truth is I hate it. But that’s our (awful) society right? Contd… The one who dropped a 14-year (posh) career to pursue Passion and OH MY GOD – “what are you gonna do with your LIFE!” The nice one who demands integrity always , sometimes you are bullied to do things just because you “should” otherwise live with the feeling that you won’t ever be enough. But we ARE ENOUGH. Maybe will never be for them, But WE ARE ENOUGH. Running helped me deal with all this. Today I also got more clarity like every run makes you feel more guided, more in tune with the situation. So for mental health day here’s the scoop: Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent. Whoever is trying to bring you down is already below you Don’t seek support from anyone; except God and Your Hard Work Love your family unconditionally even though they make you think you’re crazy. One day the world will take note and so will they. I’ve never discussed this straight out but for mental health day,it’s important to stay true and kind to yourself. And remember your self-worth . #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #blacksheep #outcast #countdowntoIDK #manalstandstallerinoctober #youcantstoptheRun @nikerunning @mentalhealthcoalition
