We can’t get enough of Stranger Things and our crush of the moment is Billy, played by 24-year-old Dacre Montgomery. In case you missed Dacre in his other big 2017 role — Jason in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers — now is the perfect time to get acquainted with him. Here, everything you need to know about Dacre.
1. He played Jason Scott, aka the Red Ranger, in the 2017 reboot of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
Prior to starring in the movie, he’d never actually seen any of the Power Rangers TV shows. “My mum didn’t really let me watch TV until I was about five years old,” he told Teen Vogue. “By that time, it was 1999 and I kind of missed it.”

2. He says his mum one of his superheroes.
Because he’d never seen Power Rangers, Dacre said he had to get a little more creative when thinking about his inspirations for the role of Jason. “I had to find something to latch on to, which very easily became, ‘What does it mean to be a superhero? What does it mean to people in society to have a superhero that kids look up to?'” he said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “I thought, who do I look up to in my life? And for me it was people like my mom.” Isn’t that the cutest thing you’ve ever heard?
3. He wore a G-string and not much else for his Stranger Things audition tape.
“I spent a day working on it and got two of my friends who were still at the acting university I went to help me that night put down a tape,” he told THR. “I had an opening score, opening titles, and credits. And I got in, like, a G-string and danced to ’80s music with this leather jacket and crazy glasses.” The Duffer Brothers were into it and offered Dacre the role after meeting him via Skype.
4. He’s Australian.
He was born in Perth in 1994 and began working as an actor at age nine.
5. He is extremely fit.
Here he is talking about his Power Rangers fitness routine, “I trained for about two and a half months, six days a week, three hours a day. I’d get up in the morning, work with a couple of phenomenal trainers, doing a lot of MMA, kickboxing, CrossFit, boxing, a whole variety of stuff, just learning about my physique and flexibility. And in the middle of the day, I’d work in the gym, doing a lot of muscle work. And then in the evenings I’d do yoga and learn about my diet.”
6. Like, really, truly.
7. He recently starred in a music video for the Angus & Julia Stone song Chateau.
He wears a cool jean jacket and drives a cool vintage car.
