1. RYAN REYNOLDS
Know that food is the way to their heart
“My wife [Blake Lively] is a foodie. She loves these apple pies that they make at this place in Vancouver where I grew up, so we grabbed a bunch of them and we were driving back down to the States. We were crossing the border – you’re not allowed to cross the border with vegetables. It’s illegal… My voice always gets really high when I’m lying. He’s like, ‘You got anything, any sort of fruit, any vegetables in there?’ And I was like, ‘Nooooo. Noooooo.’ I go, ‘That’s crazy!’ And basically he just had me on the hook. He looks at me and he goes, ‘Hey, you remember that movie you did? That movie Just Friends? You know that song at the end of it where you sing I Swear by All-4-One?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, yeah.’ And he’s like, ‘Yeah… Go ahead.’ Basically he was saying, ‘Dance, monkey.’ [So,] I danced. Oh man, I sang that thing in the best falsetto I have, and I was on my way through the border, eating pie by the next stop.”

2. BEYONCE
First and foremost, be friends
“[Jay Z and I] have been together since I was 20 years old. We took our time and developed an unbreakable friendship before we got married.”

3. KIM KARDASHIAN
It’s all about standards
“I have this best friend who understands me and helps me through all my tough experiences, and vice versa, you know? It just feels like this is it for me. I used to think, ‘Well, can you really have it all?’ The truth, the excitement, and the passion? Now I know you can.”

4. CHRISSY TEIGEN
Make romantic wishes
“[We went] back to where it all began – Lake Como, Italy, [John and I] first came here in 2007. A boat tour guide took us to a little spot on the lake and told us to make a wish. I asked for this to be the man I marry and have children with. I think John asked for the most perfect bite of cacio e pepe. Both came true, and here we are.”

5. JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE
Keep it chivalrous
“I [first asked now-wife Jessica Biel out] the old fashioned way, by telephone. That’s something I learned from both my step-dad and my grandfather – that there is a thing called chivalry and it doesn’t have to die with the birth of the Internet. The way I see it, if you’re asking a girl out on a date, it’s only right to do it in a way that she can hear your voice.”

6. CHANNING TATUM
Real talk is a must
“Jenna [Dewan-Tatum] and I have a trick we use to check in with each other. We say, ‘On a scale of one to 10, how much do you love me right now?’ It’s not as romantic as you think. Sometimes it’s like, ‘I love you at a six right now. I have an issue, and you asked. So now I’m going to tell you….’”

7. ARRON PAUL
You’ve got to talk!
“People get in fights because they don’t communicate, because you don’t want to hurt the other person. If you do want to hurt the other person, then shame on you – you’re an *******. My wife [Lauren] and I do not argue. We communicate. We talk. But we’ve never fought in our entire relationship.”

8. GEORGE CLOONEY
You’ve got to have a laugh
“Everybody says this, but I’d bet sense of humour is number one for me. It’s certainly what’s most attractive and the first thing you notice about someone. It’s not the first thing you notice at 21, but it’s the first thing you notice now.”

9. BENJI MADDEN
Always gush about your significant other’s achievements
“I couldn’t be more proud of my badass wife, [Cameron Diaz]. She wakes up every day on a mission to try and make the world a better place. I’m always amazed by the courage, strength and vulnerability she shows, relentlessly encouraging other women to love themselves. It has been amazing to get to watch her journey with her new book!”
