Charli XCX is a total Cosmo obsession. But her brand new video for Boys has more or less lifted her to Cosmo legend.
British singer, Charli, who co-directed the video, told BBC Radio 1 that the inspiration came about when she was thinking what Joe Jonas would look like eating food, which is exactly how the music video begins…
Playing around with the idea of the stereotypical roles that women play in music videos, Charli rounded up several male musicians, sportspeople, actors and Insta celebs, and got them to flip their roles for the video. Think *sexy* eating, drinking, posing, reading, working out, pillow fights and dancing. We’re calling it Blurred Guys.
“I was like, OK, I feel like I can harass enough of them into doing this video,” the 25-year-old told Radio 1. “Basically started sending them all these ideas and was like, ‘Look, I want to make this video, I’m directing it, I’m not in it. I want to flip the male gaze on its head, and have you guys do the sexy stuff.’ And they were all super down, and they got right on board, and it was amazing.”
Aside from Joe, the video has some pretty A-list names, including Riz Ahmed, Will.I.Am, Wiz Khalifa, Mark Ronson, Stormzy and Charlie Puth, who posted about his experience on Instagram…
