♦A council in Brighton, England, is set to debate stripping Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of their royal titles.
♦Thousands of people have signed an anti-royal petition that says Meghan and Harry should be treated like any other “ordinary member of the public.”
Er, in hugely RUDE news, a council in Brighton is scheduled to debate stripping Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of their royal titles. Why, you ask? Turns out a petition calling for the removal of “Sussex” from their name received thousands of signatures.
Said petition was posted on the Brighton and Hove City Council website this past July, and reads:
Um, literally WHAT?
The petition has gotten a lot of understandable blowback, and Thomas Mace-Archer-Mills, founder of the British Monarchists Society, says, “Such a petition shows utter disdain and contempt for The Crown, not to mention copious amounts of disrespect to, and for, the Royal family which undertakes thousands of engagements per year on behalf of the nation, in right of Her Majesty as The Crown.”
FYI, Harry and Meghan were given their titles by the Queen after their wedding, meaning only she can actually strip them, not that she ever would. The royal fam even made an announcement on the royal family’s website at the time, saying, “The Queen has today been pleased to confer a Dukedom on Prince Henry of Wales. His titles will be Duke of Sussex, Earl of Dumbarton and Baron Kilkeel. Prince Harry thus becomes His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex, and Ms. Meghan Markle on marriage will become Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex.”
Obviously, the royals haven’t commented on this nonsense.
