Sophie Turner dedicated most of her adolescence to Game of Thrones, playing Sansa Stark from the age of 13 when the hit HBO series began eight years ago.
And the one thing the 23-year-old star says she has missed out on, it was the experience of going to university, painting the town a crazy shade of red (just us?), and absolutely going wild on a night out.
“I wish I’d had the university experience,” Sophie said on The Graham Norton Show, which aired on Friday 23 May.
“I wish I could have gone out…but, I am happy with my Game of Thrones experience. I don’t think I missed out on too much.”
Talking about her experience of being on set at such a young age and being surrounded by adult actors, she recalled: “They were very protective.”
The Dark Phoenix actress recently opened up about her mental health issues, and the pressures she felt growing up and going through puberty in the public eye.
“I have experienced mental illness firsthand and I’ve seen what it can do to the people around [the sufferers] as well,” she told Marie Claire Australia. “My metabolism suddenly decided to fall to the depths of the ocean and I started to get spotty and gain weight, and all of this was happening to me on camera.”
But she said having therapy helped, adding: “Everyone needs a therapist, especially when people are constantly telling you you’re not good enough and you don’t look good enough. I think it’s necessary to have someone to talk to and to help you through that.”
