Recently Ariana Grande has been pretty busy in the recording studio, prepping for her Sweetener/thank u next world tour. From dress rehearsals to sound checks, Ari’s been working around the clock to make sure she’s fully prepped for the journey ahead of her, and boy was she ready last night.
Monday marked the opening night and let’s just say Ari did not come to play. She served us some realness that we sure weren’t ready for. Here’s what happened on her first night on tour in Albany, New York:
1. She paid tribute to her late ex, Mac Miller
While fans were getting to their seats and waiting for Grande to hit the stage, Mac Miller’s music was playing in the background. Trust Ari to pick the most beautifully haunting ways to commemorate his memory. Her fans truly appreciated the sweet gesture:
Ariana grande is playing Mac Miller right before her opening song for sweetener tour rn and my heart can’t handle it SO MANY TEARS

2. The first song of the tour was ‘raindrops (an angel cried)‘
What an epic tune to begin the night with. This song is so raw and it truly showcases Ari’s excellent vocal talents. We approve.
3. She performed ‘7 Rings‘ with some fresh dance moves
We didn’t expect anything else, as ‘7 Rings‘ was No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts for only like, ever. P.S we may or may not have watched this video at least 40 times. We see it, we like it. We want it, we got it.

4. She performed songs from all her albums
To name a few, Ari sang ‘bad idea‘, ‘break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored‘ from her ‘thank u, next‘ album. She also belted out ‘successful‘ and ‘God is a woman‘ from her ‘Sweetener‘ album and ‘Be Alright‘ and ‘Side to Side‘ from her ‘Dangerous Woman‘ album.
5. Her outfits and the tour visuals were straight FIRE!
It’s safe to say we’re obsessed with Ariana’s style and she absolutely did not disappoint at her concert. Rocking her sleek ponytail, she owned the stage in some killer outfits – mostly designed by the legendary Law Roach. We know who we’re dressing up as at the next costume party; Ari on tour.
Seriously, What. A. Night.
