We just love Game of Thrones facts, don’t you? Today, we bring you a furniture-related fact (bear with us). The crafty minds over on the HBO set have laid out IKEA furniture all over (even visible in the new Season 8 trailer) the GOT world. You probably think we’re making this up, don’t you? We’re not.

Also, when we say IKEA furniture, we’re not saying there are those classic, white chest of drawers you see in practically all homes just waiting for the men of the Night’s Watch to store their weapons in. Now, that would just be silly.

When we say IKEA furniture, we mean their rugs. Yep, that’s exactly what the Game of Thrones‘ art department used to fashion the iconic capes you can see Jon Snow or Sansa Stark sporting in the most recent trailer.

Makes a lot more sense now doesn’t it? The shaggy texture and fluffy, furry material helps create the perfect look for the show, without having to use actual animal fur (we respect that). The costume designer, Michele Clapton said:

“We cut, shave them, add strong leather straps and then breakdown, which is like a religion on Game of Thrones.”

Who knew the IKEA rugs were so versatile? Think about it; that fluffy rug that’s lying under your coffee table at home rn is identical to the one that’s on Sophie Tuner’s back in GOT when she’s busy being the Lady of Winterfell. Unreal but also kinda cool.
