Layering is one of our fave accessory trends and it can be tricky getting it right. Just take a few cues from the Middle East’s top personalities to get your layering game started. Cosmo tells you how:

1. Use a statement necklace as your base

Having one statement piece you can build your layering look around, is always helpful. It kind of anchors the entire look and gives it a theme. Our lovely June cover-star, Alanoud Badr, is often seen layering her gold chains and she loves to PILE them on. We love how she uses a coin necklace to build her layering look on. Just add a bunch of simple chains on top and you’re good to go!

2.  Play around with texture and layers

You don’t have to match everything. Sometimes a mish-mash does the trick. Just make sure the lengths complement each other and that there’s no tangling. Ola Farahat loves her accessories and does not hesitate trying out new trends. She layered her gold chains on top of dainty gold necklaces and it looks absolutely amazing.

3. Buy the same necklace in different lengths

Buying the same thing can pay off in this case. You’ll be shocked at how different the same necklace looks in different lengths. Check our Karen Wazen’s look in this pic if you’re not convinced.

4. Keep it simple

This is a great tip for beginners who haven’t mastered the art of layering completely. Just put on a few plain pieces and that will do the trick!
Beauty queen, humanitarian and lawyer Jessica Kahawaty keeps her look classic yet stylish by layering these delicate and beautiful necklaces.

5. Go OTT

If you want to walk the accessory wild side, then this is the tip that’ll work for you. There’s no rules for this look. Clash texture, shape, colour and length and do as much of it as you can for statement-making fun. We love how Dana Hourani, one of the region’s top fashion influencers, wears a chunky black choker and a massive turquoise pendant and brings it all together with a bunch of simple chains. Bold and fabulous!
