The Met Gala is hands down the best event of the year, because unlike many other awards shows, celebs go all out for their head-to-toe looks, and this year was no different.
Case in point: Hailey Baldwin, who arrived on the red carpet with Shawn Mendes, debuting a dreamy pink hair color just for the occasion. Her colorist Ryan Pearl told Cosmopolitan that her team, which included hairstylist Jen Atkin, decided on the pastel pink shade because it perfectly complemented her skin tone and gown.
But how exactly did he achieve such a beautiful hue? Ryan says, “I first did a highlight on her to brighten up her blonde, and then went in with a mixture of Redken City Beats [colorants] for a pink with a splash of peach finish.”
~Dyeing~ to recreate the look yourself? Ryan says to first mix the shades “City Ballet Pink” and “Chelsea Coral,” diluting it with Redken’s clear shade. Then, apply the combo and let it sit for 10 minutes before washing out.
The fun part about using a dye like this is that it washes out in a few weeks if you don’t want to commit, and continues to get more and more pastel with every shampoo, Ryan adds.
