Summer is almost out of fuel guys, and you know what that means; more sleepless nights, tight assignment deadlines, and other uni shenanigans you encounter throughout the semester.

Yes, University life can be extremely stressful if you’re not prepared enough, and you’ll be zombie-walking to class, with bags under your eyes if you don’t prepare yourself innerly now.

We’re all in the same boat here, so lucky for you guys, we’ve come up with THE ultimate university checklist that you need to complete before classes decide to punch you in the face this September.

1. Sort Out Your Finances First

Let’s be real, this is probably the least exciting task, but it’s still the most important. Find out how your tuition breakdown will look like throughout the year, and let your parents know! Don’t go ahead and start guessing the dates because sometimes, paying late will result in a financial hold, meaning you won’t see your results in the long run.

2. Internship Plans and Updating your resume

If you’re not planning on doing a couple of interships during your time at uni, then guuurl, you need to rethink your decisions. Not only will getting internships build and improve your resume, you’ll also get a chance to experince the real world (we won’t be staying in uni forever, if you guys were still in denial).

3. Familiarise Yourself With Your New Schedule

This is especially important if you’re a new student and don’t know the campus inside and out just yet. Look into your schedules and locate your classrooms before hand so you don’t risk being late. Remember friends, attendance counts!

4. Skim Through Your Course Materials

Most universities let you see before-hand, what you’ll be doing for your course throughout the semester. Trust me, reading through them will prevent you from being totally clueless during your first day.

5. Organise Previous Files On Your Laptop

This one’s for all the returning students who were too lazy to delete and organise essay files during the summer (don’t worry, you’re not the only one). But seriously, wouldn’t it be so annoying to mix up your new files with the older ones? Helpful tip: Instead of seperating your work by year, do it by module or subject instead. This way, it’s easier for you to find what you need, in case you’d want something to refer to in the future.

6.  Buy The Books In Your Reading List

If there’s any specific books you need throughout your course, don’t wait until the last minute and get them now! Yes there’s an option to rent it instead, but there might not be enough copies in the library to go around during exam season. Better to be safe, than sorry.

7. Check Out The Welcome Week Schedule and Plan Your Outfits Now

If you’re not familiar with what welcome week is, it’s basically the first week of university where the faculty and older students arrange fun activities to welcome freshers. There will be countless of things to do, including flash mobs, free pizza day, perhaps even a movie night, so it’s best to dress for the events!

8. Sign Up For Clubs

One of the most exciting part of university are the extra-curricular actvities. You might be thinking that you’d rather to spend your time focusing on education, but trust me when I say you’d probably go a little insane doing that. Having a bit of fun won’t hurt! Plus, it’s a good opportunity for you to meet new friends.

9. Shop For Beauty Essentials

You can spend up to a whole day at university sometimes, especially during exam season, so having a few beauty essentials to re-touch your makeup won’t hurt one bit. Especially in this hot weather, oof. But what if you’re not really sure what to bring? We gotchu.

Here’s a few beauty items you’ll need:

  • Sunscreen – fight those harmful UV rays!
  • Dry Shampoo – for days when washing your hair feels like a chore.
  • Lip Balm – chapped lips are a big no-no.
  • Oil-blotting Sheets – stash them in your bag to stay shine-free throughout the day.
  • Hand Sanitizer – you don’t know how many germs are spread around your campus.

10. Sort Out Your Uni Budget

This is extremely important for overseas students who are currently living alone in the country. Keep a record of your expenses, so you don’t end up with an empty wallet at the end of the month. And seriously, please learn how to cook! It will save you so much money.

11. Get Your Hair Done

Okay, this isn’t a must, but it’s still something you can do to gain more confidence in yourself. Touch up your roots, get a haircut, or do anything you feel that your hair needs, to shine its brightest.

12. Spice Up Your Closet

New semester, new clothes. This isn’t high-school where you only have to worry about ironing your uniforms everyday. You can seriously get hella frustrated if you don’t have new outfits to wear on your good days.

Here’s a video that might help you choose your OOTDs every morning:

13. Enjoy Your Last Few Weeks Of Summer With Your Friends

Last but not the least, don’t forget to enjoy the rest of your summer! You’ll seriously need it once you start hustling for classes. Grab your friends by the hand, and chill at your favourite spots.
