My hair has lived many lives, from bubblegum pink to an admittedly awkward growing out phase. Lately, I’ve been rocking short hair, but with the new year, I grew itchy for some change. I’ve been missing whipping my hair back and forth. That’s when I realised the absolute beauty of hair extensions.
I booked myself in Beauty Club London, the recently opened hair extension salon in Dubai to try tape-in hair extensions for the first time. If you crave long, wind-blown hair that makes life feel like a runway show, hair extensions may be calling your name.

Let’s talk hair
First up was an in-depth consultation with Louise Bailey, also known as UK’s hair extension queen. We discussed my hair goals (length and volume, pls), assessed the current condition of my hair, and talked through my lifestyle. Do I work out regularly? How much time do I spend styling my hair? These questions might seem minor, but they’re crucial in determining which extension method suits you best.
Louise walked me through the different options available and explained why tape-ins would work perfectly for my hair type and daily routine. I have shortish-thick wavy hair, so I would need to blow-dry my hair well to match the texture of the extensions. I left the consultation feeling informed and excited, with a personalised quote that broke down exactly what to expect.
Going from collarbone to shoulder length costs around Dhs6,000 for the hair, plus approximately Dhs2,000 for the service (including wash, blow-dry, application, cutting, and styling). Every service is bespoke and priced according to your hair length and extension needs.

Application day is where the magic happens
On application day, I arrived with completely product-free hair (no oils, no dry shampoo, nothing). I sipped on my Matcha, while Louise, worked her magic. She first washed my hair with cleansing shampoo and then gave me a blow-out. She began applying the extensions in pairs, which means zero tension on your natural hair. The placement is so strategic that you can wear your hair up, in a ponytail, or in different styles without the tape attachment points being visible. The entire process took about two hours, but I was happily entertained by all the wholesome community vibes of the salon.

The verdict
The hair flip was back, baby. My extensions felt comfortable, looked natural, and boosted my confidence. What sets Beauty Club London’s tape-ins apart is the exceptional hair quality-lightweight yet voluminous, blending seamlessly with your natural hair. Even after encountering humidity or emerging from the pool, the Hair Club Extensions still look like your own hair with no visible disconnection. The silk-based attachments are super slim, and with skilled application, there’s zero damage to natural hair. They come out quickly and easily, leaving no sticky residue. They’re even stocked at Harrods.

Aftercare & maintenance 101
Louise recommended washing the extensions one to two times weekly to maintain the fullness of my look. I was advised to treat them like my natural hair, but to use sulphate-free shampoo without oils or heavy ingredients to prevent the attachment points from coming apart prematurely. Conditioner works beautifully on mid-lengths and ends, whilst dry shampoo on the crown is fine; just keep both away from the tape attachments!
High-quality tape-ins can be reused multiple times by replacing the adhesive tape and moving them up every six to eight weeks, which takes around an hour. The cost depends on how many tapes need refitting.
