When ppl say that scalp care is the new skincare, bb, they’re not lying. If you dream of long lustrous locks à la Rapunzel and a head full of hair, you gotta give your scalp Dubai-style royal treatment. We chatted with Akash Mehta, co-founder of the much-loved Fable & Mane haircare brand to get some scalp care tips so we can *finallly* rock that coveted crown.
Winter is coming
“As the GCC is cooling down, scalp care is even more important. In the summer, our scalps and hair take a beating. Between sweat, frizz, sun exposure, and salty sea water, we constantly need to tend to it. In the cooler months, we go into more of a hair hibernation mode. We become less concerned with our hair and scalp health because it’s more manageable. Use these months for hair growth and let you scalp heal from the damage from the sun and summer months.”
Balance is 🗝️
“Without a healthy, balanced scalp, it’s hard to see healthy hair growth and minimise hair fall. A healthy scalp should have two to four strands in each follicle. If you’re not sure of your scalp’s status, get a scalp test done at a pharmacy or purchase a device off Amazon.”
“You may find that you have areas on your head with less strands. For example, if you sleep on your back, it’s possible that the hair on the back of your head is less dense that the top or side of your head. To increase fullness, you would need to spot treat with the right products on the area that’s thinner as part of your scalp care routine.” Basically, don’t even think about hair growth sis, until you get that scalp in check.
What you need to use
Step 1: SahaScalp Amla Soothing Serum

Supplied
“Our hero scalp care treatment oil is the SahaScalp Amla Soothing Serum. It contains Amla, the most potent form of vitamin C and contains more antioxidants than an orange. This helps with dandruff, flakiness, and overall soothing of the scalp. It also has a deep conditioning effect on hair. It also contains scalp-smoothing Bakuchi, and nourishing Aloe.”
“Dispense a dropper full of oil into your hand and massage it all over your scalp or on your targeted area once a week. This increases blood circulation and brings essential oxygen and nutrients to your scalp. It keeps hair in the anagen aka hair growth phase. The anagen (hair growth) phase can only happen if the scalp is healthy and not if there’s a lot of build-up and flaky skin.”
Step 2: SahaScalp Wild Ginger Purifying Scrub

Supplied
“The SahaScalp Wild Ginger Purifying Scrub is a replacement to shampoo. It lathers to cleanse both the scalp and hair properly and offers deep exfoliation with its fine Himalayan pink sea salt. The scrub contains Wild Ginger and Neem, which are great antiseptics and antifungals.”
“After massaging your scalp with the Amla Soothing Serum, massage the scrub over the entire scalp while in the shower. Do this once a week as part of your scalp care regimen. Afterwards, follow with a hair mask.” Sounds pretty good to us.
