The YouTube beauty industry is *never* short of drama, and this week has been no exception.
There has been a lot controversy surrounding Jeffree Star after Tati Westbrook accused him and fellow YouTuber Shane Dawson as ‘manipulating’ her into posting the infamous ‘Bye Sister’ video about James Charles back in May 2019.
Jeffree’s long-time friend Tab recently also made some very big claims that Jeffree had made a host of racist, derogatory and offensive comments, and an image of Jeffree including a swastika symbol circulated online (which he has apologised for). Not a good week for Jeffree!
Amid the dramz, Morphe have announced that they are cutting all ties with Jeffree Star and won’t be selling any of his products anymore. There has been speculation circulating that this could have been coming after Shane Dawson’s Conspiracy Collection with Jeffree Star Cosmetics seemingly vanished from the Morphe website amid the Shane scandal. However Morphe haven’t commented on these claims.
Morphe announced their decision with a statement on Twitter: “Today we’ve made the decision to cease all commercial activity related to Jeffree Star and affiliated products. We expect this to conclude within the coming weeks. As we look to the future, we will continue to share updates on what lies ahead for the Morphe brand”.
Jeffree Star Cosmetics have announced a statement on Instagram, saying that they are ‘shocked and saddened’ by the decision. The statement reads:
“Hey Star Family, We are shocked and saddened by the decision of our former retail partner Morphe Brushes on parting ways with our brand and Jeffree. Over the past 5 years we’ve accomplished amazing things together and released iconic products. We are proud of everything we’ve accomplished with them. What’s next? We have an incredible remainder of 2020 left and are excited to share our products with you and our partners around the world. We know our customers will continue to create, inspired and push the boundaries of our art. Love you all so much. – Jeffree Star Cosmetics”.
We’re sure there will be another instalment in this saga!
