Glowy and even skin isn’t just a want in this generation – it’s a need. And who better to trust than a Real Housewives of Dubai-approved skin and laser specialist, Danielle Stephen, to deliver the results you’ve been dreaming of?
According to Danielle, perfect skin isn’t achieved through a single product or treatment, but by combining the right ones for your skin’s needs and barriers. Whether it’s a laser treatment that helps improve pigmentation, acne and rosacea or a face sculpting and microcurrent therapies to lift, tone and define your features, it’s all about building a personalised treatment plan that works for you. After all, skincare isn’t a one-size-fits-all.
So, what’s the secret to having #Skingoals just in time for hot girl summer? She reveals all, from her holy grails to the biggest misconceptions about skincare on social media to what’s totally worth the dirham.
CosmoMe: Why dermatology, and what’s the most unexpected lesson you’ve learned?
Danielle: Because good skin genuinely makes you feel good. Living in Dubai, our skin is constantly up against heat, sun, and dehydration, so it needs that extra level of care. I love being able to help people not just improve their skin, but feel more confident in it. The most unexpected lesson has been how much skin impacts confidence; it’s never just about the surface.
CosmoMe: What’s the biggest misconception clients walk in with?
Danielle: That there’s a quick fix. Social media has created the idea that one treatment or one product will solve everything overnight. In reality, good skin comes down to consistency, a skilled therapist, and the right home care.
CosmoMe: What’s a career ‘pinch me’ moment?
Danielle: It would have to be seeing truly life-changing results with laser treatments after just a few sessions. There’s something incredibly rewarding about watching a client come in feeling self-conscious, and then seeing that shift in confidence as the results start to show.
CosmoMe: What’s your ultimate holy grail treatment?
Danielle: A combination approach using advanced laser technologies. Having trained in the Rebecca Treston Method, I’ve learned the value of layering different devices to target multiple concerns at once. Skin isn’t one-dimensional, so treatments shouldn’t be either. Combining the right treatments allows for more refined, natural, and long-lasting results.
I’m also a big advocate for microneedling. It’s one of the most underrated treatments, simple, effective, and consistently delivers that healthy, skin-renewing glow when done regularly.
CosmoMe: What’s one trend you’d never spend your dirhams on?
Danielle: Overhyped at-home devices that promise clinic-level results. They rarely deliver the same efficacy, and in some cases can do more harm than good without proper guidance. LED masks are a perfect example, many aren’t properly regulated and offer minimal visible results.
CosmoMe: Name three non-negotiable products in your handbag right now?
Danielle: Heliocare SPF 50 Fluid Cream, Avène Cicalfate Restorative Protective Cream, and Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream for the lips, an essential for hydration on the go.
CosmoMe: If you could ban one beauty myth on social media, what would it be?
Danielle: The idea that more is more, especially with the Korean skincare routines trending on TikTok and Instagram. I love many Korean products, but layering multiple products morning and night isn’t suitable for everyone.
I’m seeing more clients overloading their skin, compromising their barrier, and actually worsening their concerns. Skincare should be tailored and intentional, not trend-driven. Sometimes, less really is more.
CosmoMe: What’s your personal skincare splurge and save?
Danielle: I’ll always splurge on a really good cleanser, it’s the foundation of everything. If you’re not properly cleansing your skin, nothing else will perform the way it should. I also invest in regular in-clinic treatments, like dermaplaning combined with microneedling every 6–8 weeks, and BBL treatments using the Rebecca Treston method. That’s where you see real, long-term results.
When it comes to saving, I keep the rest of my routine simple. I don’t overload my skin with actives, and my moisturisers are straightforward. Effective doesn’t always have to mean expensive.
CosmoMe: Beyond the clinic, what’s your “unwind and recharge” ritual?
Danielle: I’m definitely an early-to-bed, early-to-rise person. I’m usually asleep by 10 so I can get up early and train, it sets me up for the day and clears my head before the clinic.
In the evenings, I like to switch off with a good book or relax with some easy TV or a film.
CosmoMe: What’s the next big thing on your radar that you’re obsessed with?
Danielle: Body skin treatments. I’m seeing more clients come in with flawless skin on their face, but they’ve neglected sun damage on the body. The good news is that this can now be treated and reversed with advanced laser treatments, so it’s no longer just about the face, it’s about skin from head to toe.
CosmoMe: If you weren’t a dermatologist, what would your dream job be?
Danielle: I’ve always had a thing for dentistry. If I didn’t end up in skin, that’s definitely where I’d be.
