Cosmotel has been the gift that keeps on giving, from fashion presentations to a ~massive~ candy bar, it’s the motel of your dreams. Despite only being on day two, we’ve had some incredible things going on, including a makeup masterclass with none other than NARS Cosmetics.
Hosted by the dreamy Marwa AlHash and Nadine Hossam, NARS Cosmetics’ Regional Makeup Artist Issam dished all the beauty secrets you *need* to know to recreate the hottest beauty lewks, here’s a breakdown of how the masterclass went, what products he used on his model and his top tips (including advice for any budding MUAs, so keep reading).
Issam’s main focus for the look was the eyes, specifically, reverse lashes as that’s actually NARS’ signature makeup look. He used the NARS Soft Matte Complete Foundation and coupled it with the Soft Matte Complete Concealer in order to achieve that full coverage we ~love~ and set the base for the rest of the look. Hashtag flawless. Issam’s top tip for using liquid products: NARS liquid products should be placed on the hand first before being used. Trust him on this one!
He went on to use the mambo eyeliner for the waterline while paying close attention to the usually neglected bottom lashes in order for the lashes to look full. His top tip when it comes to eyeliner? Always remember to choose eyeliner styles that suit your eye size and shape.
Issam used the High-Pigment Longwear Eyeliner in the shade Via Veneto to add some ~volume~ to her lashes and achieve a monochromatic look. He also *raved* about the Climactic Three Collection which hosts a ton of neutral colours, making it the perfect product to incorporate into your daily makeup routine.
Issam’s top tip numero tres: If you’re worried about choosing highlighter colours, either opt for a warm-toned one or look for a matte highlighter!
Also, if you’re wondering why NARS doesn’t have any waterproof makeup products, that’s intentional. Issam spilled the tea and told us the reason behind it. Turns out, the founder of NARS Cosmetics, François Nars, said that makeup should take 2 minutes to come off therefore, he didn’t want to develop a waterproof product. And TBH, that totally makes sense to us.
Issam used the Climax Extreme Mascara which is a new product, and shared quite a few mascara-related beauty hacks too. Firstly, put a little excess product on your hand and use it to create a bottom lash effect. P.S. liquid is better *and* smudge-proof.
Ready for another beauty hack? Always add mascara after you apply eyeshadow so you clean your lashes of any fallout!
“When I put on makeup, it’s my passion. When you love what you do, you feel the best at it,” said Issam and honestly, we can see his passion *shine* through his work.
For his last little tidbit to share, Issam did not disappoint. This one’s for all you budding MUAs, young makeup lovers or people trying to break into the industry. Issam’s advice is to always stay down to earth and be willing to learn new things. When Nadine asked him if he thought he was at the top of his game, he said “Everyday I learn something new,” and we love him for it!
