For our fragrance masterclass with the luxe brand Armani Perfumes, regional fragrance expert Ghassan Hajjaj shares the backstory of creating the Armani Privé La Collection Des Terres Precieuses – with each of the fragrances inspired by Giorgio Armani.

How did the private fragrance collection actually come about? Ghassan said, “It was actually a fragrance created for him that was given as a gift to some of his closest friends.” Now, it’s available for us to indulge ourselves further into the Armani world.

The Vert Malachite and Rouge Malachite were both inspired by Russia and its culture. He shares how the Italian fashion designer decided to launch the fragrance, “Armani used to love collecting these beautiful and expensive green stones and so he was very inspired by that. He wanted to do a scent that highlighted the strength of the scent.”

But, what you *didn’t* know is that the red stone from Rouge Malachite does not exist IRL. So, he decided to create the Vert Malachite with the scent of a flower that does not extract a real scent and for the Rouge Malachite, he used scents of a real flower with the ingredients Tuberose, wild Sage, and amber.

When it comes to the blue-stoned perfumes Bleu Turquoise and Bleu Lazuli, the two of them are inspired by Armani’s travel to India.

Ghassan also introduces us to new launches from the collection – Indigo Tanzanite and Magenta Tanzanite. With both being inspired from Tanzania in Africa, Ghassan notes, “We never speak about Africa and fragrances or just very seldom. Tanzania was the only place in the world where the Tanzanite stone is available and it’s really difficult to get your hands on it. What’s magical about these stones is that they change colour depending on the light.”

Wondering if the collection is a women’s fragrance? He says, “Well, anyone who knows perfumes, will tell you that a fragrance never has a gender. If you like it, you wear it and it’s that simple.” There you have it, folks. The Armani Perfumes collection is unisex *yay*.
