The wait is over, we have FINALLY selected the 2024 Cosmo Ambassadors after a regional search saw hundreds of applicants apply.

For the first time, Cosmo Middle East has found two Cosmo Ambassadors who you can expect to see a lot more of over on our socials.

So…wondering who made it? We are happy to announce that Sally Emelee and Alaa now the 2024 Cosmo Ambassadors.

Who is Sally Emelee?

Sally is a Dubai-based creative producer with a passion for fashion and beauty she says. She grew up between Dubai and Canada and has Iraqi roots. She specialises in storytelling through visual content and loves to inspire others through her work.

Who is Alaa?

Alaa, or Lolo as her friends call her, was born and raised in the UAE and is of Sudanese descent. She currently lives in Abu Dhabi and, as an only child, is very close to her parents. She studied Business Management and started her career in marketing. With a focus on growing her social platforms, she aims to create fun, relatable and engaging content for her followers.

Here’s our interview with them:

Cosmo: Why did you want to become a Cosmo ambassador?

Sally: Becoming a Cosmo ambassador is truly a pinch-me moment for me. Cosmo has been a magazine I’ve loved since I was a little girl, and I know that young me would be incredibly proud of this opportunity. I admire the brand’s commitment to empowering individuals through creativity. Being part of a community that celebrates authenticity, self-expression, beauty, and fashion aligns perfectly with my values, and I’m excited to contribute to that mission in meaningful ways. 

Alaa: I’ve always loved Cosmo for its mix of beauty and lifestyle content and how it connects with such a broad audience. I’d love to become an ambassador to bring more diversity to its topics and help it reach more everyday Gen Zs as they’re entering the career world. Plus, I’ve always looked up to trendsetters and creatives who push boundaries and express themselves. I feel like I have a lot of art and ideas to share with the world, and Cosmo would be the perfect platform to make that happen!

Cosmo: What excites you the most about this role?

Sally: I’m most excited about connecting with a community that shares my passion for fashion and beauty. Exploring trends and ideas through Cosmopolitan’s lens allows me to learn, inspire, and contribute to a vibrant dialogue that celebrates creativity and self-expression.  

Alaa: What excites me the most is having a platform to connect with everyday Gen Zs. I believe my artistic and lifestyle content is relatable to many. I also still have a lot to learn from people’s experiences, being a Cosmo Ambassador will make these connections and open many communication channels for me to grow as a person and a professional.

Cosmo: Who in the world inspires you the most to become the woman you want to be and why?

Sally: My mother inspires me the most. She is a strong woman whose unconditional love and support have shaped me into who I am today. The way she carries herself with grace and confidence is truly admirable. Beyond being a wonderful mother, she’s also my best friend and her ability to balance strength with warmth motivates me to embody those qualities in my own life. 

Alaa: We all had visions of who we wanted to become when we grow up, “where do you see yourself when you’re in your 20s?” Is a question we have all been asked at some point. For me, ever since I was 13, I had always pictured what I would be like when I’m 23, I always tried to fill the gap of these 10 years thinking of what I can do to become that woman. I hope I made her proud with the person I am today 10 years later, however, the thing that inspires me today is the vision I have of myself at 33, and I can’t wait to become her.

Cosmo: Can you tell us your favourite beauty hack?

Sally: Absolutely! I love using multi-purpose organic products, especially lately as I’ve been into skincare makeup. It’s the best of both worlds! I enjoy having on-the-go products that can be used as eyeshadow, lipstick, and blush, making my beauty routine efficient and versatile. 

Alaa: I want to get everyone into this because I can’t express how obsessed I am with it, but mixing your liquid blushers with your liquid highlighters is going to change your life, especially in summer. I have become a better and upgraded version of myself after learning this hack LOL!

Cosmo: How would your friends describe you?

Sally: Small but mighty is how my friends would put it, haha! They’d say I’m someone who loves beauty and fashion, a creative genius who’s destined to thrive in that field. They’d also describe me as ambitious, unintentionally funny, easy-going, and sweet—definitely the “down girl” always up for last-minute adventures! 

Alaa: My friends mean a lot to me. One of the most memorable things that made me feel appreciated is a close friend saying that I’m someone who always goes the extra mile, that I go out of my way for the people I love, and I don’t see anything more important than caring for and loving the people who are always there for you.

Cosmo: What’s your fav type of content to create and consume?

Sally: I love creating and consuming content that revolves around fashion, beauty tips, editorial content and BTS of shoots. I love everything that would fuel my creativity. I’m particularly drawn to visual storytelling that showcases creativity and authenticity, whether it’s through photography or videos. 

Alaa: When it comes to creating content, I love to film vlogs that are basically a little bit of everything, “snippets of my life” as I like to call it. This includes makeup, outfit checks, food, life, sometimes deep talks of experiences I go through. I like creating content that people can relate to and see themselves in. However, I love consuming things that are out of the box, whether it’s makeup or fashion. Cinematic makeup always has me in awe of the details that the makeup artists pay attention to. My favourite show on Netflix is Glow Up, which is all about creating extraordinary looks tailored for each person!
