YAY! It’s the weekend! Finally! I thought it would never come!
Having a spa day in is the perfect way to start the weekend. Here’s how I do mine.
Step 1: Hydrate yourself!
You can make some infused, spa water or grab yourself whatever you’re in the mood for…Maybe a soft drink or a juice?
There are a bunch of cool recipes online, check them out and make some.
These ingredients are super good for you so dump some of that into your water and you’re good to go.
Step 2: Make your room spa-like
Close the curtains so that no harsh light distubs you as you rest, light a few scented candles or diffuse an essential oil. Lavendar is great to keep you calm and relaxed. If you don’t have candles and it’s pitch black in your room them maybe have the lights a little more dim or get some fairy lights! The point is to feel cozy and peaceful.
Step 3: Exfoliate
Easy DIYs
– Coffee and Olive Oil/Coconut Oil
– Sugar and Olive Oil/Coconut Oil
You can use these natural scrubs all over your body to remove all the dead skin cells. The caffeine in the coffee also wakes up your skin and it smells divine! You can also buy amazing scrubs from the supermarket or even Lush, Bath & Body Works or The Body Shop.
This one is from Soap and Glory – you can get it at Boots.Â
Step 4: Mask Time
I love to do a hair mask to rejuvenate my hair especially since I straighten and blow dry it. Hask Hair have some really effective hair masks that come in tiny packets. My mum used to put olive oil or almond oil in my hair so I do that and give myself a head massage. It releases all the tension from the past week I swear to you it’s heavenly! I keep the oil in my hair for about an hour and then DOUBLE shampoo so that all the oil comes out.
Here are a few more hair masks you can DIY:
Face masks are also so much fun and are all the rage right now! Sheets masks by Neutrogena are super affordable and have such great ingredients like hyaluronic acid which keeps your skin SUPER hydrated. No joke, it’s insanely good. 7th Heaven is also an OG brand that have a lot of fun and unique fruit masks with awesome ingredients. What’s great is they’re really affordable and you can try so many because they come in small sachets too! Ofcourse you could also splurge on some AMAZING ones from Sephora or Kiehls. Splurging on yourself is important too so you do you boo.
Step 5: Bath time
Bath bombs are a cool way to make your bath time more fun. They add colour, good ingredients and super yummy scents. You can get really great ones at Bath & Body Works or Lush.
If you don’t have any on hand don’t worry girl I got you. Either use bubble bath gel or use some tea bags. Yes, tea bags. I promise you, rip them open and dumb in the tea leaves, it gives your bath and amazing smell and you can use the leaves as a scrub as well. Green tea is also a good source of antioxidants which can help your skin feel soft and happy. Chamomile tea is also a great one to use if you want to take a nap after because it makes you sleepy.
Tip: If you have flowers that are close to dying, put the petals in the bath. It releases such a beautiful aroma.
While taking your bath you could listen to some spa music and just relax, maybe listen to a podcast or just sip on your drink and chill out. You deserve it.
After your bath, moisturise your body with your fave body cream that you don’t use often. Yeah that one, pamper yourself and go the extra mile.
Step 6: At Home Mani-Pedi
Don’t worry if you don’t have ALL the tools you need. Just give your hands and feet some love. Paint them your fave colour (just FYI mine is baby pink) and after that, put a thick body butter on them and put some socks to keep them moisturized and soft for the next day.
Step 7: Sit back and relax
I feel like everything we do nowadays is on a timeline. We have the sense of urgency to finish everything on our lists. A Spa Day is to take care of yourself and that means switching off and doing what makes you happy so eat that piece of chocolate you’ve been eyeing all week, have a burger if that’s what you’re craving and binge watch the shows you couldn’t see during the week.
A spa day at home is great because you have the freedom to make it what you want and I for one love watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S and eating some popcorn in bed after pampering myself all day. Sometimes, it’s okay to be lazy.
Have a great weekend everyone!
