So, you’re probably wondering, what exactly is glass skin? Answer: the newest insta trend that you need. The K-beauty trend is taking the beauty community by storm, and we’re so here for it! Basically, glass skin is skin so perfect and luminous that it could only be modelled by glass (umm, yes please!). And influencers and celebs are on board, so we are too, ofc.

Okay, so it’s quite obvi that glass skin is ideal, but surprise surprise, it’s achievable for those without picture-perfect skin too! How? Beauty gurus on Youtube like Lisa Eldridge have been posting their own DIY glass skin beauty routines to achieve the optimal shine. No expensive facial or dermatologist required!

Now, there’s a lot of different skincare routines out there, but we looked at all the tips and tricks to compile the perfect glass skin skincare routine suited for just about everyone. Ready? Here’s the lowdown on how to get perfect, glowy, dewy glass skin:

1. Cleanse

First and foremost, cleanse, cleanse, cleanse! To achieve glass skin, it’s crucial to take off all that dirt and grime. And the best way to do this is it to wet your face and use a gentle cleanser/wash at night and in the morning. This way, you’re sure to get rid of make-up and all the dirt and oil from the day. Hello, clean canvas.

2. Mist (Optional)

Ever been told drinking water is good for your skin? Well, so is spraying it! Misting after cleansing is a great way to hydrate your skin and give it an extra pump of dewy, glowy sheen. Face mists can be used anywhere, anytime, so no need to reserve a spot in your skincare routine! They can be used to set makeup, soften skin, or recharge tired or tight skin.

3. Tone

Remove all that residue make-up and extra dirt or oil by toning. Many people skip this step because they’re afraid of overdrying their skin. But trust me, guys, toner just just the opposite. Instead, it nourishes the skin, gets rid of bacteria, and “double-cleanses” your skin by throughly getting rid of ALL the stuff we don’t want clogging up our pores.

4. Serum

Essentially a combo of all powerful ingredients, serums can contain Vitamin C and I’m telling you, it’s soooo good for your skin. Not only does it act as a less-heavy moisturiser, but it also reduces pimples, scars, and reduces pores (goodbye blackheads!). Acting as a typical moisturiser without all the heavy oils, serums encourage collagen production and frequent use makes your skin smoother and clearer. Sign me up! I’m telling you, if you follow only one step in this routine, follow this one.

To Do Occasionally…

Exfoliate

Every few days, depending on your skin type, incorporate an exfoliate into your skincare routine. Rubbing away the dead skin cells will leave your skin feeling smooth, hydrated, and super soft. Like glass, basically (see what I did there?). Word of warning: be careful not to do this too often (happens more than you think!), ’cause exfoliating too much causes microtears and is far too tough on the skin (we’re looking at you, Kylie walnut scrub). Overall, though, exfoliating is a great way to smoothen and refresh skin while get rid of dead skin (always a plus). Just make sure you’re doing it according to your skin type.

Mask

1-2 times a week, use a face mask to cleanse your face of all toxins and dry out impurities. Face masks are amaze-ing self-care trinkets ’cause they leave you refreshed and are totally a social must-have (sleepovers and masks anyone?). The most important thing to remember about face masks is that they work according to your skin. Which means, find the mask that works for you! Not every product will be just right for your skin, so see if you have dry, acne-prone, sensitive, or oily skin and consult an expert to see the ingredients best for your skin. It’s the only way a mask will be effective, trust me.

SPF

Catching some rays can be great. After all, laying in the sun gives you a gorgeous glowy summer-perfect tan. But, if you’re not careful, it can also be extremely harmful. Especially to the most sensitive part of your body, the skin. So, you need—scratch that—have to protect it. When you’re stepping out on an especially hot/sunny day, make sure the SPF is properly lathered on your face. I mean, come on, the Dubai heat is no joke, people. Skip the skin damage(which could be permanent btw), pick up the SPF.

And voila! Go flaunt that glass skin with pride, you earned it!
