Ahh, lipstick. That beloved face paint that makes the pucker look delicious. It’s also the reason behind questions like: “Do I have lipstick on my teeth?”, “Is my gloss smudged?” and  “Oh no, did I EAT my lippie while munching on that croissant?”

*Sighs*, as embarrassing as it is, all the above situations have happened to us, more than once. Which is why we’ve made it our mission to try hundreds of thousands of lipsticks to make sure that it never happens to you. Or, to help it stop happening to you.

During our quest, many lips were painted, coffees consumed and all types of sweets devoured, to find that one product with the ultimate staying power. The undisputed winner? Liquid Lipstick.

So, without further ado, we present to you the top seven Cosmo approved liquid lipsticks (we’ve even separated them into shades and effects), you’re welcome:

The Mattes:

Huda Beauty Demi Matte Liquid Lipstick

Shade: Sheika

Matte Liquid Lipstick - Huda Beauty Demi Matte Liquid Lipstick

The ultimate OG liquid lipstick and a huge fan fav. Huda Beauty, the boss lady from the Middle East triggered a lippie craze with her beautiful packaging and ultra-long wear formula.

The verdict: It lasts all day but after sometime, it does gets a bit crumbly on the inner lips.

Cosmo’s rating: 8/10

Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint

Shade: Uncensored

Liquid Lipsticks Matte - Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint

The Fenty liquid lipstick in ‘Uncensored’ is so stunning that it poses a serious competitor to MAC’s iconic ‘Ruby Woo’.

The verdict: The formula is light and feels comfy on the lips. It has a moisturising effect, which makes it great for summer and winter. It does, however, tend to smudge… the key is to apply thin layers. The formula is highly pigmented, so, don’t worry too much about it looking blotchy.

Tarte Tarteistâ„¢ Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint

Shade: Friyay

Liquid Lipstick - Tarte Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint

Tarte is known for its highly pigmented and mineral enriched eyeshadows, and this lipstick is no exception. The highly concentrated mineral pigments are super opaque, so less is more with this baby.

The verdict: It dries super fast and lasts for hours. It’s so light, that you actually forget that you’re wearing anything on your lips. ‘Friyay’ is the perf shade for winter and that deep purple tint looks classy on even the lightest of skin tones. Our one suggestion would be to apply it using a fine lip brush, as the applicator is a bit too wide to allow for precise implementation.

Cosmo’s rating: 9/10 (-1 for applicator)

The Glitters:

Kat Von D Everlasting Glimmer Veil

Shade: Rocker

Glitter Lipstick - Kat Von D Everlasting Glimmer Veil

Kat Von D, tattoo artist turned makeup mogul creates edgy cosmetics that are (almost) as permanent as her infamous body art. We chose her Everlasting Glitter Veil liquid lipstick because not only is it long lasting, it’s also rather fun.

The verdict: It’s everlasting but maybe a bit too everlasting. Our lips maintained their sensual sparkle throughout the day but when it came to taking it off – it was almost IMPOSSIBLE.

Cosmo’s Rating: 6/10

Ciaté Glitter Flip

Shade: Fortune

Liquid Matte Lipstick - Ciaté Glitter Flip

This is, hands down, the coolest lipstick you’ll ever try on. Ciaté created a unique liquid lipstick that, when applied has a matte effect but then turns sparkly just minutes later. Can’t believe it? Have a look at beauty guru @Lararlee testing them out.

The verdict: Let’s be honest, they’re super fun and the ‘transformation’ never ceases to amaze. This has some major sparkle, compared to the rather subtle shimmer of the Kat Von D Everlasting Glimmer Veil.

The Metals:

Lime Crime Hot Metallic Liquid Lipstick

Shade: Red Hot

Metallic Lipstick Liquid - Lime Crime Hot Metallic Liquid Lipstick

How do we best describe Lime Crime? Well for starters, we’d say that it’s sugar and spice and everything nice. All of the brand’s products are vegan and are shipped in gorgeous packing. It was hard to choose just one product from their wide range of glosses, nudes and sheer ‘plushy’ liquid lipsticks but their metals are hands down one of the best in the market.

The verdict: Can we just talk about how amazing this colour is? It’s absolutely faltering on every skin tone and makes us feel like one dangerous woman when we stick some on (and yep we’re referring to Ari’s song). The lipstick has a sweet but pleasant vanilla smell that reminds us of cupcakes and glides on effortlessly. Our pout survived fries, a burger and a sundae (don’t judge the cheat meal), which means that it’s pretty grease proof. At the end of the day, we looked just as fine as we did in the morning. A def MUST for us!

Sephora Collection Lip Stain Metal

Shade: Galactic Blue

Blue Metallic Liquid Lipstick - Sephora Collection Lip Stain Metal

The Sephora house brand is the underdog on the beauty market. Their lipsticks are cheaper than the most brands like Too Faced but they can definitely compete with them.

The verdict: At Dhs80, they are a bargain compared to some of the pricier lippies on the market. The blue colour is simply stunning. The metal foil effect gives us major galactic vibes and we love it. It wears quite well although you can feel it on your lips. The texture is rather creamy but it does start fading towards the end of the day. Still great, given its price.
